Russell Brand Trends For Video Mocking CNN’s Brian Stelter Over Joe Rogan Comments

Comedian and actor Russell Brand, who is politically liberal, trended on social media Monday afternoon over his mocking impression of CNN’s host Brian Stelter complaining about Americans’ trust in popular podcast host Joe Rogan over embattled CNN.

Brand took aim at Stelter over recent comments the host made about Rogan’s “opinion” not being as valid as newsrooms like CNN, asserting that “not all opinions are created equal.”

“You think about major newsrooms like CNN that have health departments and desks and operations that work hard on verifying information on COVID-19,” Stelter said in the segment, The Daily Wire reported. “And then you have talk show stars like Joe Rogan, who just wing it, who make it up as they go along. And because figures like Rogan are trusted by people that don’t trust real newsrooms, we have tension, a problem that’s much bigger than Spotify, much bigger than any single platform, but that’s what is the heart of this right now.”

Rogan has been the target of an intense censorship campaign by folks on the Left over the past few weeks. Liberal musicians have pulled their music from Spotify, demanding “The Joe Rogan Experience” be removed from the audio platform; media figures, including Stelter, have run smears against the host; and even the White House has suggested Rogan should be censored.

However, on Sunday, Spotify said Rogan’s podcast would not be removed from the platform.

Brand’s criticism of Stelter is certainly not the first time the liberal actor has stepped out of line with the Left. Just last month, for example, Brand offered support for Canadian truckers protesting vaccine mandates. The National Post reported:

Comedian Russell Brand is the latest high-profile personality to speak out in support of the truckers driving cross-country to protest the vaccine mandate in Ottawa this weekend.

Brand shared his opinions about the protest in 14-minute YouTube video called “Truckers Convoy: Why The Mainstream Media Blackout?!” In the video, he questions how truckers have gone from heroes, delivering goods at the start of the pandemic, to villains who are “ loathed if they won’t participate and capitulate according to the wills of the powerful.”

This is precisely what people need to do,” Brand said in the video. “You have to work out what your objectives are, work out how you’re going to pursue it, make sure you’re ideologically sound and that your conduct is fair.  We’re dealing with a pretty nefarious machine that will say anything to shut down opposition to its intentions.”

Moreover, Brand and Daily Wire emeritus Ben Shapiro spoke at length with one another last year about numerous political and cultural issues. Brand labeled the discussion on his YouTube channel, “Russell Brand & Ben Shapiro ‘Respectfully Disagreeing.”
